My Inspiration

I have always been inspired by African culture, art, jewelry and fabrics. As I child I remember my aunt quitting her job one day.  She had worked so hard to work her way up to become a top executive at a fortune 500 company. I was in shock because I was very young, and she always seemed so happy with her success.  Shortly after I received a letter with the most exotic stamps. I remember the envelope felt different almost like rice paper. I still have it.  It was a letter from her saying she had moved from her beautiful apartment in Manhattan and moved to Africa.  She said she was living in Abidjan, the beautiful capital of the Ivory Coast. She was the happiest I had every seen her and I saw her soul blossom. She would bring back beautiful art , jewelry and textiles and would give them all out as gifts.  I couldn't wait to hear all the amazing stories she would tell about her travels and the villages she visited. She gave me my first view to Africa.  She loved to tell us about the different food she ate and most importantly the people.  I loved her stories because she made them so vivid I felt like I was there!! 

Naturalife247.com is inspired by those childhood memories. Most of the items sold are imported from Ghana, Kenya, Mali and Zimbabwe and are made by the amazing villagers. This commerce brings economic empowerment and resources to there communities.

I have also put together an array of finds and favorites from my many contacts with a diverse group of African American artists and entrepreneurs to showcase on this site.
